Julianne Marie Lavin is seen in a booking photo released by the Anaheim Police Department on Aug. 31, 2016.

Julianne Marie Lavin, a 27-year-old transient, was arrested in Santa Ana on Tuesday evening on suspicion of grand theft and embezzlement, police said.

Her bail was set at $20,000.

The theft was reported in the 1800 block of South State College Boulevard in late July when Lavin and an unidentified man rented the apartment.

When the owner returned all his furnishings, including appliances, a bed, a refrigerator a dishwasher and wall decorations, had been stolen.

“The loss of this case is tens of thousands of dollars,” Sgt. Daron Wyatt of the Anaheim Police Department said.

Video surveillance footage of Lavin was released to the public and led to her being identified and arrested, officials said.

The man who accompanied Lavin remains at large and the stolen property has not been discovered.

Wyatt said at least five other thefts have been reported from short-term rentals since May, but it is unclear if the incidents are related.

He said that those who rent out their homes short term should take proper measures to ensure they don't become victims of crimes, like asking rentals for identification and taking inventory of items in the home.

In January, the Anaheim Fire and Rescue Department received numerous calls of a garage fire in the 2000 block of West Blue Violet Court around 11:40 p.m. Firefighters arrived to find the garage of a two-story condominium engulfed in flames.

The condo was allegedly being used as an indoor marijuana plant as well as a THC extraction site, commonly known as Butane Honey Oil extraction.

During BHO extraction explosive gases are heated in an attempt to extract THC from cannabis leaves. The process can be a very dangerous one, according to officials.

The illegal extraction resulted in an explosion that subsequently caused the fire, according to fire investigators. The damage is estimated to be more than $450,000.

Tabora was arrested at a Motel 6 in Westminster and a search of his home in the 6100 block of Kelley Circle revealed another Butane Honey Oil lab, police said.

Tabora is being held at the Anaheim Detention Facility on a $75,000 bail.

Police were called to the Calimex Market in the 300 block of Brookhurst Street after a robbery with shots fired call was reported at about 10:13 p.m., said Sgt. Jacob Gallacher with the Anaheim Police Department.

Surveillance video from the store showed two people, who appeared to be armed, ordering an employee to open a cash register.

One of the robbers can be seen stuffing something into his pockets before pulling the drawer out of the register.

The two robbers then begin to exit the store and are quickly followed by a third suspected robber.

As the robbers are leaving the market, the store’s manager grabs what appears to be a gun from under the counter and chased after the robbers.

An unknown amount of rounds were then fired at the robbers, said Sgt. Jacob Gallacher with the Anaheim Police Department.

It was unclear if the robbers or their vehicle were hit by the gunfire, Gallacher said.

An area resident was not surprised the manager went after the robbers.

“I just have a message for … whoever thinks they want to come back over here, not to mess with these guys because they’re always armed,” Ivette Duenas said.

Authorities were searching for the three robbers seen in the video.

Daniel Martinez is seen in a booking photo provided by Anaheim Police officials on Nov. 17, 2016.

Daniel Martinez, 18, of Buena Park, is believed to have had "inappropriate sexual conduct" with two girls, 6 and 7, while working at a licensed facility in the 700 block of South Dale Avenue. Victims' parents told KTLA the suspect worked at Magusa’s Family Child Care and Preschool.

Lauren Johnson, the mother of one of the victims, said her daughter was examined and there was proof she had been harmed.

The 6-year-old girl told police she had been touched on her privates by the suspect, Johnson said.

“There’s no 6-year-old that’s going to make that up,” Johnson said.

Johnson said the owner of the facility had credentials and cameras at the location and she was assured her daughter would be safe.

“But unfortunately she hired someone who was a child predator, who not only assaulted my baby, but other children,” she said.

The grandmother of the other victim told KTLA the girl was assaulted at the same day care.

The woman, who did not want to be identified, said Martinez took her granddaughter to the bathroom.

“I guess that’s when he touched her," the woman said of the suspect.

The owner did not comment on Martinez's arrest Wednesday.

Martinez was arrested after meeting with Anaheim police detectives Wednesday, officials said. He was booked on suspicion of committing lewd acts with a child under the age of 14 and is in custody at the Orange County Jail. His bail was set at $1 million.

Anyone with additional information about Martinez or if a parent believes their child was a victim, they are encouraged to call the Anaheim Police Department at 714-765-1963.

The crash was reported about 2 a.m. in the 1700 block of West Ball Road.

First responders found a vehicle crashed into the patio of an apartment and was engulfed in flames, police said.

Two people were found dead inside when the fire was extinguished. A third person who was outside of the vehicle suffered severe burns and is in critical condition, police said.

Officials believe the third victim was inside the vehicle, but it is unknown if he was ejected or got out of the vehicle himself. He suffered second-and-third degree burns, but is expected to survive.

The fire was contained to the outside of the apartment, causing minor structural damage and three people were displaced as a result, police said.

Martin Sanchez, a homeowner in the area, said he witnessed the crash and sought to help save the third victim.

“When I opened the door the guy was trying to get out. He was screaming for help to put water on him because he was on fire," Sanchez said. "I ran first and tried to help him because he was stuck. Finally, I got to the hose and put water on him.”

A preliminary investigation revealed that the burned vehicle was involved in a street race with another vehicle. Both vehicles were heading west on Ball Road at high speeds when the victim vehicle lost control, jumped the north curb, sheared a light pole, struck several vehicles and caught fire before crashing into the apartment building, police said.

“The victims in the vehicle were badly burned and no demographics were distinguishable,” police said in a news release.

The make and model of the burned vehicle were also undistinguishable, police said.

At least five other vehicles that were parked near the apartment building were damaged in the crash.

Police were looking for a red sports car that the victim vehicle was racing and fled the scene. Anyone with information can call crime stoppers at 855-TIP-OCCS.

Officials did not name the victims but identified the driver as a 19-year-old resident of Stanton, the rear passenger as a 19-year-old resident of Fullerton, and the surviving front passenger as a 24-year-old resident of Anaheim, according to a news release from the Anaheim Police Department.

Due to the severe burning of the bodies, officials were waiting on DNA tests to confirm their identities, the news release stated.

The crash occurred early Saturday morning in the 1700 block of West Ball Road.

One vehicle, which had crashed into the patio of an apartment building, was engulfed in flames when emergency responders arrived.

Investigators said the vehicle had been involved in a street race prior to the crash, but have been unable to locate the second vehicle.

A couple evading Orange County police during a pursuit in Tustin on Wednesday crashed into many other vehicles before being apprehended after hitting a dead end, officers said.

Rincon, left, and Monzon are shown in booking photos released Dec. 14, 2016, by the Anaheim Police Department.

Crystal Rincon, left, and Juan Monzon are shown in booking photos released Dec. 14, 2016, by the Anaheim Police Department.

Officers were following up on an assault with a deadly weapon incident that occurred Nov. 28 at the intersection of Rose and Sycamore streets in Anaheim, after which one suspect drove away from the crime scene while the other fired a gun into a crowd of witnesses, according to Anaheim Police Officer Daron Wyatt. The couple wanted in connection with the crime was arrested Wednesday following a chaotic pursuit.

The suspects were identified as 21-year-old Santa Ana resident Crystal Rincon, who drove the car, and her boyfriend 24-year-old Anaheim resident Juan Monzon, who is believed to have fired the gun, Wyatt said. The victim of the assault fled the scene and has not been identified, authorities said.

Monzon is accused of using a metal rod to assault someone in the Nov. 28 incident, police said, adding that no injuries were reported by the gunfire. On Wednesday, Anaheim investigators were conducting surveillance at Rincon's home in the 1200 block of South Standard Avenue in Santa Ana when they saw her return with Monzon in the passenger seat, but the couple immediately drove away, according to a department press release.

Police would later discover there were also two children in the backseat.

Undercover units attempted to pull over the suspects but they evaded officers, leading to the pursuit around 4 p.m. Marked Tustin police cars eventually joined the pursuit, according to Lt. Robert Wright of the Tustin Police Department.

During the pursuit, the suspects became stuck in traffic and switched places, with Monzon moving to the driver's seat and evaded police by driving northbound in the southbound lanes of Red Hill Avenue, officers said. Police attempted to block the car in with their vehicles, but Monzon was able to make room to escape by repeated ramming them, Wyatt said.

Then, near the intersection of Red Hill Avenue and El Camino Real, Monzon hit another vehicle and rolled over onto the roof of that car before landing onto his tires and continuing to drive, according to officials.

“That is amazing. You usually don’t see something that extravagant happening. We were kind of astonished too that the car continued to drive and that the suspect still maintained control of the car," said Wright.

Monzon also threw a handgun from the vehicle during the pursuit, but it was later recovered, Wyatt said.

Monzon and Rincon were taken into custody following another crash at Andrews Street and Estero Circle, a dead-end street in Tustin. Officers then discovered the two 4-year-old girls who were in the backseat during the pursuit.

The girls, believed to be children of a relative of Rincon, suffered minor injuries and were released to their mother, Wyatt said.

Rincon and Monzon both received medical clearance at Orange County Global Medical Center before being booked on attempted murder, assault with a firearm, child endangerment, felony evading, firearms charges and gang enhancements. Their bail is currently set at $500,000, but authorities said they would be seeking a bail enhancement.

Detectives are still not sure what led up to the violent incident, nor have they determined a motive, but in a press conference held Friday Anaheim police and the deceased victim's mother pleaded for members of the public with information on the crime to come forward.

“He was my only son,” Linda Navarro said of her 49-year-old son, Douglas, choking back tears. Police say Douglas was shot by suspect Luke Lampers Wednesday night as he was trying to stop an abduction at the Crystal Inn on Lincoln Avenue.

“Please, please, for the girl’s sake," Linda said as she pleaded for information that could lead to Lampers' arrest. "It won’t bring back my son, but it could possibly help her. We need to get him before he does anything else."

Shortly after shooting Navarro, Lampers allegedly forced Brianne Deese into his vehicle at gunpoint, officers said.

Brianne's father, David Deese, said Lampers was a former boyfriend of his 23-year-old daughter.

“Its shocking but at this moment it still hasn’t quite hit," he told KTLA. "It’s been surreal for me.”

Deese said he last saw his daughter about a month ago when she got out of rehab, where she was battling a heroin addiction.

“She’s had a drug addiction since she was about 16 years of age,” he noted.

Police believe she and Lampers may be traveling in a 2011 orange Nissan Cube with California license plate 6SOY425. Lampers is considered armed and dangerous.

“I think my daughter must have been very, very scared, especially if she was dragged into a vehicle," David said. "And the fact that somebody lost their life, and I was told it was someone that was trying to save her, so it’s heartbreaking to me that somebody lost their son as a result of trying to save my daughter.”

The man's body was discovered around 6:30 a.m. in the 1600 block of South Sinclair Street, which is located a short distance away from the Honda Center and Angel Stadium.

The victim, believed to be Latino and in his 20s, showed signs of trauma on his body, and investigators believe the case is a homicide, according to Anaheim Police Department Sgt. Daron Wyatt.

It was unclear whether the person was killed at the location, of if his body was dumped there, Wyatt said. It appeared the man had been deceased since around midnight.

His name has not yet been released. Police do not believe the victim was a transient.

Surveillance video shows an SUV pulling up and a man dumping the body, according to Raymond Berry, a man who works in the building.

"It's very disturbing because, a lot of times, my wife's here until midnight," Berry said. "I don't think that's going to happen any more."

When asked if it was related to any other cases in the area, including a fatal stabbing that occurred outside a Wal-Mart in Santa Ana last month, Wyatt said police believe the case is an "isolated event."

"Obviously, that is something that detectives will always look at, to see if it's related. At this point, it ... does not appear directly related to any of the commercial businesses around us, and it's all part of the investigation to weigh it through, see what we can come up with," he said.
