Anaheim police shot and killed a man armed with a firearm in Orange on Saturday morning while attempting to arrest a woman with an outstanding warrant, officials said.
Police conducted a traffic stop near North Glassell Street and West Lincoln Avenue (map) around 7:45 a.m. after observing the woman and a man enter a vehicle driven by third individual, Anaheim Police Department Lt. Eric Trapp said.
The driver immediately pulled over and the male passenger exited with a firearm, the lieutenant said.
A shooting occurred and the man was fatally wounded. Paramedics pronounced him dead at the scene, Trapp said.
It was unclear how many times the man was shot, and if he fired his weapon, which was recovered at the scene.
The woman was subsequently arrested and police were interviewing the driver.
“There are no subjects outstanding at this time,” Trapp said.
The identities of those involved was not immediately known.
Since the shooting occurred in the city of Orange, local police and the district attorney were expected to investigate the incident, Trapp said.
