A man who appeared to be under the influence was detained Sunday morning after spending hours on an Anaheim home’s rooftop during a standoff with SWAT officials.
The man, who was allegedly under the influence of narcotics, was detained around 7:40 a.m. after officials shot water projectiles at him, Anaheim Police Department Lt. Eric Trapp said.
Police responded to the home, in the 1500 block of West Chanticleer Road (map), around 11:30 p.m. Saturday after the man allegedly violated a court order, Trapp said. After they attempted to make contact with him, the man ran to the home’s yard and onto its rooftop.
The man said he was armed, leading to the evacuation of four nearby homes, Trapp said.
After the projectiles were shot, officials said the man became compliant and was hospitalized to make sure he was OK. He was then expected to be arrested.
