A man was critically injured after being shot by at least one officer in Anaheim Friday morning, officials said.
Petrica Peter Muntean, 24, has been identified by police as the man shot.
The incident occurred at about 7:10 a.m. in the 100 block of South Seneca Circle, Anaheim police said in a tweet — a location that's about 2 miles from Disneyland.
Police were responding to a Carl's Jr. in the area for an unrelated reason when they spotted Muntean, who they thought had been involved in an incident the previous night, Anaheim Police Sgt. Daron Wyatt said.
Police later issued a news release saying the incident happened at around 8:30 p.m. the prior night, when they responded to a call about a disturbance between a woman and her adult son in the area near Lombard Drive and Brewster Avenue. Muntean allegedly fled the scene as police arrived.
Shortly after, just 25 to 30 yards from the scene of the incident, officers saw Muntean place a handgun under his chin, police said. Then, the officers took cover and demanded that he stop but he ran away and managed to escape from the officers.
On Friday morning, when officers found Muntean again, he "exhibited similar behavior" as the night before, police said in a news release. Wyatt said he did not cooperate with police at that point, and led officers to an apartment complex nearby where an officer-involved shooting occurred.
While Wyatt said a weapon was found at the scene, police later said it was a BB gun.

Muntean was taken to the hospital in unknown condition, but Wyatt later confirmed he was in critical condition.
In a news release, police said the officers tried giving Muntean verbal commands to stop and also used "less than lethal" means of trying to get him to stop before opening fire.
The officers were wearing body cameras at the time of the shooting.
Video from the scene shows a Honda sedan, with a bullet hole, parked in the apartment complex. A rifle, a set of keys and three cellphones were seen near the car, along with a splatter of blood. The rifle seen in the video was later confirmed to be a police bean bag gun.
Citron Street was closed between Lincoln Avenue and Broadway during the investigation, police tweeted, but was eventually reopened.
Christopher Banuelos, who lives near the scene, said he was just walking up when he saw the man and police from his window.
He said he saw two officers shoot the man, one after the other.
"I saw it happen, Banuelos said. "It just shook me."
